Save Our Space - A New Beginning!

An aerial view of most of the overgrown "Bungalow Garden" that lies at the heart of the Southern Area. The footpath to the Leech Wells can be seen running from bottom left to centre right.

Welcome to the Save Our Space website.

On Tuesday February 24th 2004, South Hams District Council announced that it is withdrawing its own plan for the Totnes Southern Area and will instead work with SOS and the local community to produce a better alternative.

As a result, SOS has become DOS - Design Our Space and has a new set of web pages here.

We will be holding another public meeting at Totnes Civic Hall on Friday March 12th at 7.30pm. Come along and find out how you can help.

These pages will not be updated in future, so bookmark the new web site instead.

On these old pages you will find:

  1. News - final update on 24th February 2004
  2. Details of the SOS Public Meeting held at the Civic Hall on 8th December
  3. Who we are
  4. Details of the Outline Planning Application
  5. Maps and pictures of the area concerned
  6. A list of our objections to the plan as published (you may find these helpful when writing your own letter of objection)
  7. Our vision for Leechwell Park - what is now the 'Bungalow Garden'
  8. Dates for Public Meetings (see here for what happened at past meetings)
  9. Links to useful web-sites

You are visitor Counter since Wednesday 19th November 2003.

This website is maintained by David Mitchell, who is also responsible for almost all the photographs (for details of how the aerial views - such as the one above - were obtained, see here). All suggestions for improvement are welcome!
